The Intel Core i3-7020U is an ultra-slim, dual-core processor based on Kaby Lake architecture. It has two CPU cores clocked at 2.3 GHz and supports HyperThreading, allowing it to execute up to four threads simultaneously. It has a 620-nanometer graphics chip and dual-channel DDR4 memory controller. It has a smaller architectural footprint than the previous generation, but its performance is better.
While the core-based processor is similar to its predecessors, the Kabylake design uses the same micro architecture. While the performance per MHz isn’t much different from Skylake, the new design makes it possible to take advantage of the increased efficiency of the 14nm manufacturing process. Also, its Turbo clock speed is higher than that of its predecessors, which makes it ideal for short bursts of work.
