How to Refill a Canon Ink CL-746 Color Cartridge
The first step in refilling a color ink cartridge is to remove the sticker on the top. It is necessary to do this because the sticker can cause ink to leak. Peel it off and place the tape over the holes. Then, you can insert a syringe through the hole and check for size. When the ink is ready, replace the label on the cartridge.
To find the ink type of your Canon printer, check the part number on the back of the cartridge. The part number will either be “CL” or “PG”. The latter refers to the type of ink. The “PG” ink cartridge is better for text printing and is larger than the “CL” cartridge. The pigment-based inks are more resistant to water and UV light than the dye-based ones. If you have a Canon printer, you can simply replace the ink with any other brand.
After installing a new cartridge, you should be able to see the new cartridge. If you have a previous model, you can choose a different color to replace the old one. The Canon PGI-280 / CL-281 series ink cartridges are widely available. Most of the new PIXMA printers use this type of ink. If you have a brand-new Canon printer, you can purchase a compatible Canon Ink CL-746 color cartridge and use it in your machine.
