Pangasinan as an IT hub

Word has gotten to us that the Philippine Government MAY be seriously considering ONLY Baguio and San Fernando La Union as likely areas to be declared as IT hub in the North.

What about Pangasinan? Pangasinan has fiber-based internet from not one but two major carriers. Pangasinan also has 2 Major Power Plants, and more importantly, we have at least 5 major Universities that can provide enough IT skills to power any IT enabled enterprise. The population of Pangasinan is even bigger than the COMBINED population of La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte!

Pangasinan is the only province to be bordered by at least 5 other provinces, La Union, CAR, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Zambales that can provide additional manpower if need be.

We hope the provincial officials of Pangasinan can do something about this. If Pangasinan does not make it as an IT hub, it will lead to serious economic repercussions for every major stakeholder in Pangasinan-- Business, Industry, Academe, and the local government.

Gravatar No one was able to post on this feedback. Thanks to Prof Bevan, we were alerted to this. Francis did the re-coding work to make it happen.

Gravatar Again it shows this governments lack of research into the real assets of our area. If they did this there would be no question about the location. So once again we are faced with decisions of our government based on political favors and old political debts.
Also thank you again for a great job Mr. Vidal.

Gravatar Perhaps Urdaneta or Lingayen but not Dagupan City?

Gravatar Who are the people to make this decision?
Obviously they are not IT or truly business minded. (Action without Brains)
The experts drawn from recognized IT practices teamed with Philippine proven business magnates should be the ones given this responsibility and not some grumble minded power crazed politician. NO CLUES OR SUGGESTED TYPICAL CASH ORIENTED THOUGHTS FOR SELF INTEREST SHOULD HAVE ANY INFLUENCE WHATSOEVER. The repurcussions if this step is not taken seriously will reverberate through unimaginable routes that could take years to recover, and that will certainly seriously affect the future not only provincial areas but the Philippines as a whole.
Has anyone spoke to Jody Venecia? Get Benji, Gov. Agbayani. Wilson Chua for a start. MAKE URGENT NOISES NOW!!!
"Playing with Fire" also by Atty G.T. DUQUE can help also!

Gravatar Is this a GMA v.s. FVR thingy?
GMA killing Pangasinan since it's FVR's "balwarte"...
Dagupan City is also against GMA?
What would you expect?

Gravatar Our own local government both provincial and city should continue to keep providing incentives for business to invest in the area. We know that we already have the fibre optic super highway. What we need is continuing investment in people through education and better job opportunities.
Just because the national government makes an announcement, it doesnt necessarily translate to anything. It is still up to the people of Pangasinan to take care of themselves.

Gravatar If you don't want to pay, don't play. Would you, if you were the owner of a program, be happy if people just use your program freely if that were your source of income? I think not.

Gravatar Greetings.

I am Atty. Jose Netu "Joey" Tamayo, a councilor of Dagupan City that heads DX2AAA an amateur radio club here in Pangasinan.

We welcome the entry of the Sonshine Radio to Dagupan City a gold mind of the broadcasting industry north of Metro Manila.

I have visited your site in Dagupan City and I am very glad to learn that improvement of your relay station in the city is in full Swing! And this early, our group the DX2AAA wish to commit our support for the new AM relay station. As an amateur club though, we are in need of a tower that can possibly accomodate our UHF AMATEUR REPEATER SYSTEM.

We found your tower as one capable to service the whole of Pangasinan in terms of Ham radio. And we can, IF YOU ALLOW US TO USE YOUR TOWER (free from interference with the operation of the AM station), serve as volunteers come during special events that may be sponsored by your firm.

It is therefore hoped that you will consider this as manifestation of our support for the entry of sonshine radio to Dagupan and REQUEST that you allow this HAM CLUB to make use of your tower that we can implace the aerial antena of our repeater system.

Please feel free to contact tis Amateur Radio Station -- 0921-793-8088.

Thank you and good luck to your firm.

Joey Tamayo
