A post by Migz Paras on the brewing controversy between Globe Telecom 3G and Smart on 3G was picked up by INQ7. The post from Migz seemingly shows a leaked internal memo from Globe staff that shows Smart was way behind in it's 3G activities, and that it (Smart) was only able to catch up through massive advertising .Migz post on Globe Telecom 3G and Smart 3G wars was picked up by Pinoy Techblog and techie.

One major stumbling block to ISPs registering as VOIP VAS (Value added services) provider with the NTC is the draft ruling that requires ISPs to enter into an interconnection agreement with existing carriers.
Why is this a bummer? Well, carriers have been known to drag their feet for years. In the meantime, what would an enterprise do with all the capital invested in the VOIP service? And how will the delay affect the service levels and call rates? I wonder what PISO has to say about this? (hmmm.. that's odd, no entry after Nov 2005)

Just read this in Business Blog:
“Within six months from the enactment of this ordinance, all food dispensing establishments, hotels, restaurants, catering services, and other similar establishments shall reduce the use of plastic and styrofoam packaging materials by at least 75%. Where the use of plastic and styrofoam kitchen utensils by caterers cannot be avoided, such caterers shall exert efforts and means to impart to their customers the imperative need to recycle such utensils.”--City Ordinance.

Word has gotten to us that the Philippine Government MAY be seriously considering ONLY Baguio and San Fernando La Union as likely areas to be declared as IT hub in the North.
What about Pangasinan? Pangasinan has fiber-based internet from not one but two major carriers. Pangasinan also has 2 Major Power Plants, and more importantly, we have at least 5 major Universities that can provide enough IT skills to power any IT enabled enterprise. The population of Pangasinan is even bigger than the COMBINED population of La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte!
Pangasinan is the only province to be bordered by...

Google is rumored to be planning to roll out some sort of Google PC on Friday. It's not clear what will power the low-cost machine, but it won't be Windows. We're betting the long-rumored Google OS and/or Gbrowser could be part of the package. Others have tried the low-cost approach to knock the Redmondians off their desktop-OS-monopoly pedestal, but no one's succeeded so far
