Munich halts biggest-ever Linux migration

The biggest ever Windows-to-Linux migration - the city of Munich's 14,000 desktop switch - has been put on ice while legal issues are settled. The move has been temporarily suspended over fears incoming EU legislation could cause the city a huge patent headache. Major telcos that are supporting a call to block the ip address 81.192.0.0/16 include PLDT, Digitel and Eastern. Globe is still consulting with their legal department on this action.

NCC to call emergency Meeting

NCC Director Tim Diaz De Rivera has called a meeting this friday 1pm at the NCC offices in Diliman to discuss the recent defacement of the gov.ph website. Government sysads and network administrations are welcome to attend the meeting. Please call ahead to reserve your seat.

Urgent Security Advisory from NCC

In view of the recent defacement of the Philippine Government Portal , www.gov.ph, that is currently being hosted at a Bitstop IDC, we wish to issue an advisory to the general public to be wary of IP addresses coming from the 81.192.0.0/16 block.

Bitstop has provided the activity logs to the TFSCI (Task force for Securing Critical Infrastructure) on the recent defacement of the gov.ph. No other details can be given at this time.

USL's 256kbps Link Activated

The University of St Louis in Tuguegarao, Cagayan has recently activated its 256kbps link to Bitstop Network Services. The link will provide USL with connectivity not only to the Internet , but also to domestic networks like PHIX, MIX, and the government backbone network, PREGINET.
